Bringing the Word to Life: Curt Cloninger
This hour we speak to actor, writer, and director Curt Cloninger, who has spent 30 years traveling the country performing thoughtful and thought-provoking one-man shows. Much of his work is religiously-themed, and often directly or imaginatively inspired by the stories of the Gospels.
In this hour-long conversation with host David Dault, Cloninger discusses his inspirations, his joys and frustrations, and the tricky balance of the creative side and the business side of his work.
Curt earned a B.A. in theatre and communications from Abilene Christian University and further acting training at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and since, 1982, has “learned from life on the road”, performing in every imaginable setting. Curt has been a Staley Distinguished Performer and served for fifteen years as an Artist in Residence at Perimeter Church in Atlanta, Ga.
His one-man shows include Witnesses: Eight Men Who Knew Jesus, Jesus Talks!, God Views, Celebrate the Child, and When I Died Last Tuesday.
In the interview, we also discuss a direct-to-video performance that became very popular: "I'm Putting Up the Flag." You can find out more, and invite Cloninger to perform in your area, at CurtCloninger.com.
