The Dawn of the Baha'i Faith: Steve Sarowitz

Two centuries ago, a new religion burst upon the world stage. Starting as a reform movement within Islam, the faith soon became distinct, and its practitioners are now known as the Baha’i.

The story of the emergence of Baha’i has parallels to the origin stories of other great world faiths, while also having its own, often fantastic, characteristics. Prophecies, miraculous events, and luminous piety are all part of this epic story.

Now, a new film called The Gate documents these early days of the Baha’i faith.

We speak with the film’s executive producer, Steve Sarowitz. He talks with us about the making of the film, the story of the early teachers of the faith, and his own journey to become Baha’i.
