A Chaplain is a Witness: Rick Lee James

We are delighted to welcome back singer-songwriter, author, and podcast host Rick Lee James to the program. In 2021, James - who was a long-time Christian minister - took a new step in his vocation as he entered a program to study to be a hospital chaplain. In this powerful conversation, he discusses new insights he has gained from this training, as well as talking about a new song he wrote as a result of his hospital work: “As I Walk These Halls.”

Rick Lee James is a singer/songwriter, worship leader, author, speaker, podcast host, and Chaplaincy Resident at Kettering Health in Ohio. His recordings include the 2021 singles Shine A Light In The Darkness and You Are My Salvation; as well as 2019’s critically-lauded album Thunder; 2016’s Hymns, Prayers, and Invitations, and the 2013 live release Basement Psalms, among others. James’ book, Out of the Depths: A Songwriter’s Journey Through The Psalms, has been used as a textbook for the National Praise & Worship Institute at Trevecca Nazarene University, and he has been a contributing writer to Worship Leader magazine, Holiness Today, and The Gospel Music Association (GMA).
