The Human Quest for meaning: Brian Schmisek
Our guest Brian Schmisek returns to Things Not Seen to talk with us about the extraordinary variety of ways in which humans work to make sense out of our world and all its confusing events. In his recent book, Signs, Superstitions, and God’s Plan: The Human Quest for Meaning, Dr. Schmisek looks through the sweep of Western history to see the many ways we have found to impose order on chaos. In the process, he also takes aim at some popular (and erroneous) explanations and myths.
Brian Schmisek is an award-winning author. He has had a distinguished career in Catholic higher education, most recently as provost and dean of faculties at St. Mary's University of Minnesota. He was also dean at Loyola University Chicago and the University of Dallas.
